Director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza: Egypt is Great and its Leader is Wise Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, Director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, stated that the reopening of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, represents a historic turning point and a thwarting of the displacement plan, thanks to the tireless efforts of the wise Egyptian leadership. During a phone interview with the "Al-Sura" program on Al-Nahar TV on Monday evening, Abu Salmiya emphasized the crucial importance of the return of fifty patients who received treatment in Egypt to Gaza that day. He noted that the list of urgent cases resulting from the two-year war includes 20,000 cases registered with the World Health Organization and the Palestinian Ministry of Health. These are critical cases of wounded and injured individuals, of whom 1,300 have died so far, and the death toll continues to rise because many of these cases require advanced surgeries, such as heart surgery. Abu Salmiya pointed out that there are more than 170,000 wounded individuals, some of whom may not require treatment abroad, but many others need reconstructive and advanced surgeries that are unavailable. With treatment being delayed day by day, some are having limbs amputated because they require bone reconstruction. He emphasized that the health situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic, and the Israeli occupation is reducing the entry of humanitarian aid these days, especially medical supplies and equipment, which have reached unprecedented levels. Seventy percent of essential medicines and necessary medical consumables are unavailable, as are laboratory and radiology supplies.
