Dr. Burhanettin Duran, Head of Communications at the Turkish Embassy in Cairo, strongly condemned the death penalty law passed by the Israeli parliament, which applies exclusively to Palestinians.
In a statement, he said: "We see this so-called law as an extension of the genocide being perpetrated against innocent people, a blatant example of oppression that disregards the rule of law, deepens discrimination and cruelty, and seeks to legitimize the punishment of an entire people."
He continued, according to the statement distributed by the Turkish Embassy in Cairo, that this step, which represents a new dimension in the systematic oppression and violence against the Palestinian people, reveals the extent of the brutality of the occupation's policies. This sick understanding, formed through racist and discriminatory practices, has no place in law or in human values.
He added that it is absolutely essential that the international community not remain silent in the face of this flagrant violation of the law, but rather take concrete steps in the name of justice, human rights, and universal values.
