University Theater Forum in Cairo Honors Russia

The third edition of the Cairo International Forum (CIF) for University Theatre, headed by director Amr Qabil, was concluded at the British University Theater. It was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly this year.

In his speech, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, stressed that the Prime Minister's sponsorship of this artistic event emphasizes the importance of the university theater because it contains youth having awareness, talent and the ability to express their aspirations and hopes of this country.

Dr. Sobhi added that the ministry's support for the international forum is the first of its kind.

This comes within the framework of the Ministry's plan to develop the capabilities of Egyptian youth everywhere, especially creative youth who are able to prove themselves in international forums.

Dr. Mohamed Lotfy, President of the British University in Egypt, also gave thanks and appreciation to the attendees and guests of the forum, which is being held under the slogan "A New Egypt ... A New Future."

The director, "Amr Qabil", head of the forum, stressed his thankfulness and pride in the Egyptian state's support for this forum.

He said that "We continue to offer everything that works to create a new generation with creative abilities as we aim to develop the theatrical movement as well as exchange artistic, intellectual and cultural experiences."

On his part, Dr. Hossam Badrawi, Chairman of the Forum's Higher Committee, said: "I am happy to be among you. Joy and happiness is human right for all.

He thanked all the participants and organizers of the forum, especially the Egyptian state.

Meanwhile, Marat Gatin, Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, expressed his happiness for honoring the troupe of the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS) and choosing Russia as a guest of honor for the forum. This coincides with the celebration of the year of humanitarian cooperation between Egypt and Russia.

He confirmed the depth of cultural relations between the two countries.

While Sherif Gad, Director of Cultural Activity at the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, received the honor of the Russian troupe and the forum shield on behalf of Gatin.

He said the forum proved its utmost importance due to the status of theater among all arts, which depends on direct dialogue with the audience, as the forum was able to gather the youth of 25 countries in a joyful cultural scene.

He added that the Russian show was wonderful so it won the admiration of the jury headed by the artist Jamal Suleiman.

The Russian Center also hosted a theatrical performance and artistic workshops for the physical expression of the artist Olga Kostrina and the playwriting of the Iraqi artist Dr. Alaa Al-Jaber.
