Russian Cultural Center Welcomes Renowned Theatrical Band GITIS

As part of the Cairo International forum for University Theatre's workshops and presentations on youth issues, the renowned Tchaikovsky Theater at Russian Cultural Center welcomed a Russian Young theatrical band called GITIS this week in its headquarters in Dokki.

Also in this regard, the Russian Cultural Center, a branch of the Embassy of Federal Russia, sponsored GITIS’s stunning artistic performance that highlighted the theme of human daily life’s issues entitled “people and Images.”

Responding to the success of the performance, the Director of the Russian theatrical band Oleg Volyntsev expressed pleasure at the enthusiastic participation of the Egyptian audiences and their hospitality.

“I fell over the moon with the result of the play and performance, adding that the Russian theater performances had a great impact on the Egyptian audiences, who interacted with his band,” Volyntsev said.

For his part, Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt Marat Gatin expressed his happiness with this great successful performance that will allow the Egyptian public to get acquainted with one of the most important Russian theater institutions that also has been producing a number well known Russian and international artists and stars.

In the same spirit, Gatin revealed that the persity of the band’s program provides the audience with a clear idea of the Russian heritage and culture, which is the major goal of this performance.

In its third edition in 2012, the event hosted Russia as its guest of honor. The Russian activities also include several artistic performances, folklore festivals, support for popular arts in the forum.

Meanwhile, Sherif Gad, the Director of Cultural Activities Department at the Russian Cultural Center cited the Russian Theater Institut as one of the great art institutions in the world, noting that the GITIS which is enrolling in the well-known institution proved its high quality and also revealed the cultural heritage of this ancient institute.

Moreover, the Jury of the theatrical performance competition consists of the star Jamal Suleiman from Syria, renowned critic Mohamed Roumia a number of well-known artists.

It’s worth mentioning that the third edition of the Cairo International Forum for University Theatre is held under the theme of ‘A New Egypt, a New Future’.
