Russian Victory Day Celebration Brings Culture and History to Alexandria

The Russian House in Alexandria, in cooperation with the volunteers of the Victory 75 Team, organized a special celebration marking the 81st anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (World War II). The event was held in a warm and humanitarian atmosphere that reflected the deep cultural and historical ties between the Egyptian and Russian peoples.

The celebration was attended by Karen Vassilian, the Russian Consul General in Alexandria, along with several members and staff of the Russian Consulate General, who participated as guests of honor. The event brought together representatives of the Russian community, young people, volunteers, and those interested in cultural and historical activities.

The celebration included several segments highlighting the heroism and sacrifices of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (World War II), emphasizing the importance of preserving historical memory and passing it on to future generations as part of the shared human heritage that carries the values of sacrifice, peace, and victory over fascism.

Arseniy Matyushenko, Director of the Russian House in Alexandria, delivered a speech welcoming the guests. He noted that this occasion is not only an important historical memory for the Russian people, but also an opportunity to strengthen cultural dialogue and human connection between nations. He stressed that the Russian House is always keen to organize events that reinforce the bonds of friendship between Egypt and Russia and encourage youth participation in cultural and volunteer activities.

For their part, the organizers expressed appreciation for the role of the Russian House in Alexandria in supporting youth and cultural initiatives, praising the efforts of the organizing team in creating a friendly atmosphere that contributed to the event’s success. They also emphasized the importance of continuing such gatherings that bring different generations together, encourage the exchange of experiences and ideas, and promote the values of mutual respect and cultural cooperation.

The event concluded with an artistic performance featuring the ballet troupe and the Russian House choir, which presented a selection of folk songs commemorating the achievements of past generations. Attendees also took a collective commemorative photo, with grandchildren carrying portraits of their ancestors who contributed to victory in the Great Patriotic War, ensuring that their memory remains alive from one generation to another.

The celebration was marked by a warm and friendly atmosphere, with participants taking commemorative photos in a scene that reflected the spirit of friendship and closeness among attendees, reinforcing the importance of commemorating historical occasions as a bridge for communication between peoples and cultures.
