US singer D4vd will stand trial over the alleged murder of a 14-year-old girl after a Los Angeles judge ruled that prosecutors had presented sufficient evidence for the case to proceed.

The 21-year-old artist, whose legal name is David Burke, has pleaded not guilty to charges including murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors are also considering whether to seek the death penalty.

According to prosecutors, the victim, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, was found dismembered inside a Tesla registered to Burke in September 2025. They allege the pair had an illegal sexual relationship before the girl was killed.

During a five-day preliminary hearing, prosecutors presented text messages, DNA evidence and purchase records they claim link Burke to the killing and an alleged attempt to conceal the crime. Burke's defense argued there is no evidence of premeditated murder.

The case will now proceed to trial, where the allegations against Burke will be tested in court. The singer rose to prominence with his 2022 hit Romantic Homicide and released his debut album, Withered, in 2025.
