The Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, in cooperation with Hathor Association for Culture and Arts and the Egyptian Film Society, will host a special celebration on Sunday evening titled "Mohamed Khan: 10 Years of Enduring Presence (2016–2026)", commemorating the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed filmmaker's passing.
The event will bring together a distinguished group of filmmakers, cinematographers, critics, and close friends of the late director, including renowned cinematographer Saeed Shimi, screenwriter Wessam Soliman, Mohamed Khan's widow, filmmaker Nadine Khan, cinematographer Mahmoud Abdel Samie, film critic Mahmoud Abdel Shakour, cinematographer Kamal Abdel Aziz, Dr. Mohsen Ahmed, and Sherif Gad, Director of Cultural Activities at the Russian Cultural Center. The discussion will be moderated by filmmaker Ahmed Rashwan.

The celebration will feature a screening of "The Watermelon", Mohamed Khan's first professional short film, in which he captured the essence of Egypt in just nine minutes. The film was shot by cinematographer Saeed Shimi and edited by the late Ahmed Metwally.
Mohamed Khan is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Egyptian realist cinema. Born on October 26, 1942, he passed away on July 26, 2016, at the age of 73, leaving behind an extraordinary cinematic legacy that continues to influence generations of filmmakers.

Throughout his career, Khan directed a series of landmark films that have become classics of Egyptian and Arab cinema, including A Wife of an Important Man, The Street Player (Al-Hareef), Dinner Date, Dreams of Hind and Camilia, Out and Never Back, Days of Sadat, and Factory Girl.
Khan began his directing career with Sun Strike (Darb Shams) in 1978 and concluded it with Before the Summer Crowds in 2016, cementing his reputation as one of the most influential and celebrated directors in the history of Egyptian cinema.
