Today. April 18, Egypt and the whole world are celebrating UNESCO’s World Heritage Day.
This special day is also celebrated as Internal Heritage Day or International Day for Monuments and Sites.
In this regard, the National Civilization museum's Royal mummies hall was opened on this occasion to coincide with the International Day for Monuments and Sites, also known as World Heritage Day.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Tourism and Antiquities Ministry decided to open the Royal mummies hall for Egyptian and foreign visitors to celebrate World Heritage Day.
According to an agreement between UNESCO and the World Heritage institution, the purpose of the celebrations is to give exposure to international efforts to preserve these historical sites and boost awareness towards the importance of supporting them.
On the other hand, Enas Jaafar, Executive Vice President of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, explained that most of the coffins for mummies in the hall have also been installed, and work is being carried out and undertaken to install the remaining coffins and artifacts for King Amenhotep II and the Fourth.
The magnificent halls were inaugurated this morning by the ministry of tourism, following the overwhelming success of a majestic festive parade celebrating the relocation of 22 royal mummies of 18 ancient Egyptian kings and four queens from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo to the modern National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Al-Fustat.
Lately, the NMEC in Cairo has completed the maintenance and preparation works of the last recent mummy.
It's worth mentioning that ticket prices for the NMEC are pided as follows:
LE200 for foreigners.
LE100 for foreign students.
LE60 for Egyptian citizens.
LE30 for Egyptian students.
