Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, asked a group of 15 restorers and museum curators of Egyptian Antiquities to obtain an intensive training program in the field of museology in Italy.
Al-Anani’s decision comes within the framework of the keenness of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to raise the efficiency of the human element of its employees and develop their skills and professional capabilities.
It also contributes to developing the work system and providing them with more expertise in the field of archaeology and museums.
On his part, Moamen Osman, Head of the Museums Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said that this training program comes in light of the project to rehabilitate the Museum of Islamic Art and related museums, namely, the Jayer Anderson Museums, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, and the Muhammad Ali Palace in Manial, which is implemented in cooperation with UNESCO.
He noted that “The program includes a number of topics, including management of museum collections, preservation of archival materials, science of maintenance and restoration materials,” adding “it will be implemented in three phases during the months of July and September of this year.”
