Egyptian actor Mahmoud Hemeida has won the Best Actor Award at the Casablanca Arab Film Festival for his performance in the film Complaint No. 713317, which also claimed the festival’s Grand Prize.
The award was presented during the closing ceremony of the festival’s latest edition, held with the support of the Moroccan Cinematographic Centre, where the jury praised Hemeida’s performance in the acclaimed drama.
The film follows retired couple Magdy and Sama, who lead a quiet life in their apartment in Cairo’s Maadi district.
However, a malfunctioning refrigerator sparks a series of disputes with a suspicious maintenance company, turning an ordinary household problem into a journey that exposes hidden tensions in their marriage and the complexities of their lives.
The film stars Mahmoud Hemeida, Sherine, Hana Shiha, Mohamed Radwan, Ali El Tayeb, Tamer Nabil, Hanan Youssef, Enam Salousa, Mohamed Abdo, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, and Jihad Hossam El Din. It was written and directed by Yasser Shafie.
The production team includes Karim Fouad Hakim as director of photography, Nora Fawzy as production designer, Dina Nadim as costume designer, Khaled Kammar as composer, Emad Maher as editor, Mostafa Shaaban as re-recording mixer, and Mohamed Salah as sound designer.
The film was produced by Baho Bakhsh, Safi El Din Mahmoud, Gaby Khoury, and Ahmed Badawy.
Hemeida’s latest television appearance was in the Ramadan 2026 series Last Chance, in which he starred alongside Tarek Lotfy, with a cast that included Ali El Tayeb, Nada Moussa, Ahmed Siam, Amr Saleh, Cynthia Khalifeh, Noura Mahdy, Aida Riyad, Nadine, Mohsen Sabry, and Yasser Ezzat. The series was written by Amin Gamal and Mahmoud Ezzat, and directed by Ahmed Adel Salama.
