Veteran Hollywood star Kurt Russell will make a comeback to the small screen after 45 years.
The "Escape From New York" star made his last appearance in the 1977 original series "Hawaii Five-0". He is now returning to the small screen in Apple’s original live-action monster series "Godzilla and The Titans".
The acclaimed actor will be joined by his son Wyatt Russell in the project, which will air on Apple TV+ and is part of Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise.
They will star alongside Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.
The series will be executive produced by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, who will act as the show’s co-creators with Black as the showrunner.
Executive producers also include Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell as well as Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita of Toho Co. Ltd. Toho is the owner of Godzilla and other ancillary characters.
Matthew Shakman will direct the first two episodes, which is produced by Legendary Television.
Legendary has been creating Toho’s monsters since 2014’s “Godzilla“.
After the first movie, the studio began building a cinematic universe of monsters that featured King Kong, not owned by Toho, as well as giant monster beings known as Titans, kaiju that come from beneath the Earth’s crust.
The cinematic universe also included 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island“, 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters“, and 2021’s “Godzilla vs. Kong“.
The series follows the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real.
It was also unveiled that the project will also explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.
