Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Abdel Ghaffar met the Australian Ambassador in Cairo, Dr. Glenn Miles, on Monday.
The minister stressed the deep relations between Egypt and Australia, pointing out Egypt's keenness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially the field of higher education. This will include the exchange of cultural and student delegations and faculty members between Egyptian and Australian universities.
The two sides discussed a number of topics, including the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Egyptian and Australian Higher Education Ministries as well as the strategies related to the exchange of students, grants and scholarships and the reception of Egyptian students to study in Australian universities.
The Australian Ambassador praised the historical relations between the two countries, stressing Australia's interest in cooperation with Egypt in the field of higher education.
He pointed out that his country is ready to provide scholarships to Egyptian students, in addition to visiting a delegation from Australian universities to Egyptian universities in the coming period, and to discuss the establishment of Australian universities in Egypt and the work of joint scientific programs between Egyptian and Australian universities.
