Greek Prime Minister (PM) Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday that Athens plays an important role in improving energy security in region, amid the turmoil caused by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
In his word at the international conference on liquefied natural gas held in Athens, Mitsotakis added, "The crisis is changing the energy map in Europe, and Greece is at the forefront of this change."
Moreover, he shedlight on many existing and planned projects, which will enable Greece to increase its energy exports, including the new floating reservoir at Revithusa, the storage and regasification unit at Alexandroupoli, in northern Greece, which is expected to become operational by early 2024.
He also noted that in a few years there will be two, three or even four floating LNG terminals, expressing the desire to help Greece's neighbors diversify their energy supplies and improve stability related to energy security.
