Today, Wednesday, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as part of his current visit to Rome.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicated that Shoukry appreciated the long-term strategic partnership between Egypt and the FAO, stressing Egypt's commitment and support for the role of the organization.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also expressed appreciation for the organization's participation in the COP 27 Conference , especially with regard to coordination and formulation of initiatives related to agriculture and food security for sustainable transformation, stressing the importance of continuous and fruitful cooperation between Egypt and FAO.
Abu Zeid added that the Director General of the organization congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Egypt's outstanding success in the COP 27 conference and its distinguished leadership in the negotiations until reaching an agreed document.
The two sides affirmed their aspiration to work closely to achieve Egypt's Vision 2030, stressing their keenness to address food security issues, the importance of supporting countries affected by the food crisis, and importance of working to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
