Sisi Inaugurates 1st Global Forum for Higher Education

CAIRO, April 4 (SEE) – The First Global Forum for Higher Education and Scientific Research Kicked off on Thursday under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Sisi previously announced that 2019 is the Year of Education.

The Forum’s motto is “Global Forum for Higher Education and Scientific Research: Present and Future”.

It’s noteworthy that it is taking place at a time when Egypt just chairs the African Union.

The forum will be held during the period from the 4th to 6th of April in the New Administrative Capital as a contemporary model for development, planning and building the future that has been completed as a fast-track project.

Thousands of Attendees

The speed completion of the administrative capital confirms the capabilities of the Egyptians for reconstruction, development and openness to the world.

Furthermore, the forum is an international opportunity for increasing investment in higher education and establishing international universities in the New Administrative Capital.

The forum will be attended by around 2000 public figures of senior officials; scholars; experts; and those interested in university education, scientific research and innovation.

About 300 foreign public figures of leading scholars, heads of international universities, deputy ministers of  education, education experts from 55 countries will attend too.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghafaar, the Minister of Higher Education, announced that the forum will create an international platform to address the present and the future of higher education, scientific research and innovation through interactive discussions of a number of international issues.

The Forum’s Agenda

The three-day forum will discuss the fourth industrial revolution, emerging technologies, education internationalization, knowledge-based economy as well as their role in achieving sustainable development.

Moreover, the forum addresses a number of important issues such as maximizing the investment return in higher education, scientific research and innovation.

The forum also raises the issues of artificial intelligence, getting the graduates equipped for the new labor market, improving quality of higher education, and helping Egyptian universities to get better world rankings.

Educational Exhibition

A big exhibition entitled “Study in Egypt” will be organized during the period of the forum.

Eighty-five institutions will participate in the exhibition. Also, a number of ministries will have their own booths.

The exhibition will open its doors to parents and secondary school students on Friday and Saturday to get familiar with the curricula provided by all universities and institutes in Egypt.

Youth Discussions

A “Youth Talk Dome” will be organized during the forum as Egypt believes the importance of the youth participation in the accomplishment of 2030 Sustainable Development Plan (SDP).

Therefore, this effectuate the youth role in the dialogue and exchanging views.

The forum will be a retreat of more than 2000 young men and women from different governorates daily with a view to best utilizing the experiences and expertise in different specializations.

The dialogue will address topics related to career guidance, training, relationship building, youth empowerment, capacity building, leadership skills development, entrepreneurship, ways to overcome challenges, as well as skills necessary for the new labor market requirements.

Moreover, it will be held over three days with the attendance of more than 50 speakers, over 30 entrepreneurs in different fields, and a number of investors, senior officials and representatives of big international companies.
