Farouk Hosny Foundation Votes for Architecture Qualifiers

On Saturday, the jury of Farouk Hosny Award for Architecture held a meeting for voting for the qualified participants for the following stage of the foundation’s 3rd art awards competitions.

The process of selecting and evaluating the qualified projects was based on ingenuity and function, featuring the cultural identity of the surrounded environment, climate requirements, the degrees of using the location's features, the presentation of the project, and employing economic units in the process of structuring.

29 projects by 65 participants have been submitted to the foundation's competition from eight governorates.

It is worthy to mention that the competition's jury consists of: Soheir Hawas, professor of Architecture and Urban Design at Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Mohamed Abu Seada, the director of the National Authority of Civilization Coordination, Hamdy El Sotouhy, Architecture specialized in museum & develop heritage areas, and member of The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), an engineer Hatem El Said.

The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000. EGP 50,000 for the first place, EGP 30,000 for the second one, and EGP 20,000 for the third. In addition, there are a number of honorary certificates for unique contributions.

The foundation will contact directly the qualified participants to the semi-final rounds in the upcoming period, while the names of the winners will be announced in a special ceremony for giving awards to them.

A group exhibition dedicated to the qualified works to the final rounds will be organized.
