Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El-Anani met on Wednesday the European Union (EU) Ambassador Christian Berger, at the ministry’s headquarters in Zamalek, Cairo.
They discussed ways to enhance cooperation as well as the resumption of tourism between Egypt and the countries of the EU, especially after the implementation of the EU digital health passport.
At the outset of the meeting, el-Anani welcomed the EU ambassador, hailing the depth of relations between both sides.
He also reviewed the precautionary measures applied by Egypt to preserve the health and safety of citizens, tourists, and workers in the tourism sector, and ongoing efforts to vaccinate workers and citizens against Coronavirus.
Egypt's minister also highlighted the initiative carried out by the European Union (EU) countries ambassadors, to promote tourist and archeological destinations in Egypt, pointing out that this initiative was carried out in full coordination between the EU and the ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, and Foreign Affairs.
Within the framework of the initiative, 22 of the EU countries' ambassadors visited a number of their favorite Egyptian tourist and archaeological destinations, where each ambassador filmed short movies to promote Egyptian tourism and antiquities and posted them via their social media pages on "Facebook - Instagram - Twitter - YouTube."
They also discussed the rehabilitation and development of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, which is being implemented in three phases in cooperation with the EU.
