Council of Minister Decides to Extend" Kings of Sun" Exhibition in Prague to Sep. 30

The Council of Ministers has decided to extend the " Kings of the Sun" exhibition in Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic until September 30.

The exhibition was scheduled to conclude on June 30.

Dr. Mustafa Waziri, General –Secretary of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said that is the second time that duration of the exhibition was extended on demand of the Czech government.

He indicated that the first time was in January.

Due to the great turnout of the visitors, the Czech side has submitted another request to extend the exhibition for three months until the end of September.

It is worth noting that the exhibition of " Kings of the Sun" was inaugurated by Dr. Khalid Al Anani, Minister of Tourism & Antiquities and Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, and the Czech Minister of Culture, Lubomir Zauralek, during the month of August 2020 to mark the 60th anniversary on the archeological work of the Czech mission in Abusir, Giza.

The exhibition presents to the visitors a small glimpse to the Egyptian civilization the encourages them to visit Egypt to sightsee more antiquities and enjoy her picturesque beaches.

As soon as the exhibition was reopened in May, after a short hiatus due to the Coronavirus, all tickets run out until mid of the current month.

The number of visitors to the exhibition was estimated at 10 thousand people over the first 25 first days.

The exhibition includes 90 artifacts that were excavated by the Czech mission at Abusir archeological area.

The head of King Ra-Nefer-Af", and a group of statues from the Old Kingdom, including a statue of a clerk, statues of senior statesmen and officials, and a set of canopic utensils, in addition to ten statues of Ushabti made from Faience.
