Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan has submitted his resignation on Friday, according to several media reports.

Tonoyan will be replaced by Vagharshak Harutyunyan, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, who had served as Minister of Defense in 1999-2000.

President Armen Sarksyan announced today, Friday, the appointment of Harutyunyan, as the new Minister of Defense.

Harutyunyan was the Minister of Defense of Armenia before in 1999 and 2000, and during the last period he was the main advisor to the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan.

This comes as the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said, on Friday, that "units of the army entered the Agdam region according to the tripartite agreement between Moscow, Baku and Yerevan."
