Bahlawan to Commemorate Abdel Wahab’s Birth Ann. at Cairo Opera

Veteran Syrian artist Safwan Bahlawan will perform a grand concert at Cairo Opera House next Sunday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the iconic singer and composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab.

Bahlawan will share the stage with several opera stars such as Ayat Farouk, Sarah Sehab, and Ahmed Effat.

The concert’s program includes some of the artist’s unforgettable hits such as “Fatet Ganbena,” “Khayef Aaol Eli Fi Aalbi,” “Sahar,” “Sakan El Lail,” and “Ahwak.”

Born on March 13 in Cairo, Abdel Wahab is one of the Arabic music legends, and he was named as the Composer of the Generation, and the Immortal River.

His career in music wandered among several roles: singer, actor, composer, and musician.

Started his career in 1917 as a singer, the artist cooperated with several stars such as Umm Kalthoum, Asmahan, Abdel Halim Hafez, Warda, Laila Mourad, and Fayrouz.

His most notable songs are linked with Ahmed Ramy’s poems.

Abdel Wahab passed away in 1991 after a long artistic career that spanned for several decades.
