Minister of Antiquities Dr. Khaled Al-Anani said that 85% of the restoration work of Baron Palace in Heliopolis, scheduled to be inaugurated this year, has been completed.

During an inspection tour in the palace, Al-Anani added that it is the first integrated restoration process in more than 100 years at a cost of EGP100 million, pointing out that the construction and restoration work will be completed within 90 days.

The Minister of Antiquities noted that an exhibition is being held inside the Baron Palace. This exhibition displays the idea of establishing Heliopolis and the reasons for choosing this location to build the palace, and its history.

He pointed out that the area in front of the palace will be a service area for visitors, old trams will be placed inside the private garden. The tickets price won’t be expensive for the Egyptians.

The Baron Empain Palace better known as Le Palais Hindou (literally, The Hindu Palace), is a distinctive and historic Indian-inspired mansion in Heliopolis, a suburb northeast of central Cairo, Egypt.

The palace was designed by French architect Alexandre Marcel and decorated by Georges-Louis Claude. Inspired by the Hindu temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, it was built between 1907 and 1911, in reinforced concrete.
