A live-action “Zorro” series is in development at Disney Branded Television.

American actor Wilmer Valderrama is set to star and executive produce the series. Valderrama is set to portray Don Diego de la Vega and his alter ego, the masked horseman known by Zorro.

The project is a reimagining of the 1950 Disney-ABC series of the same name.

The series starred Guy Williams, Gene Sheldon, George J. Lewis, and Henry Calvin. It contained 78 episodes and ran between 1957 and 1959, with four hour-long episodes airing in the early 1960s.

The reimagining is also executive produced by John Gertz of Zorro Productions Inc. and Gary Marsh, the outgoing president, and chief creative officer of Disney Branded Television.

The project is a part of Marsh’s production pact with Disney General Entertainment.

Valderrama is best known for his role as Fez on the hit sitcom “That ’70s Show” as well as his role as Nick Torres on “NCIS".
