Zawya to Screen Palestine's "Between Heaven and Earth" Wednesday

Zawya Cinema will start screening the award-winning Palestinian film "Between Heaven and Earth" on Wednesday.

Directed by Najwa Najjar, the film won various awards such as Naguib Mahfouz Award for Best Screenplay at Cairo International Film Festival, Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at Boston Palestine Film, and Best Actor Award for Firas Nassar at Mostra de València-Cinema del Mediterrani.

Based on a true story, the film revolves around a mid-30s couple who lives in Palestine. Then, the couple decides to porce.

After facing many complications, the husband manages in having 3-day permission to go to Nazareth for finalizing the porce.

Surprisingly, the couple faces a huge turning point driving them to reconsider their plans.

It is expected that Najjar may attend some of Zawya full screenings as she will be here in Egypt this week. She will participate in the Cairo International Film Festival, as a CIFF International Competition jury member.

Currently, Zawya is continuing its special Michael Haneke program entitled “Michael Haneke Retrospective” till November 30.

The program showcases a selection of the Austrian director’s most notable titles throughout the month of November, taking us through Haneke’s masterful works known for both their critical acclaim and provocations.

8 films are being screened daily including Haneke’s most celebrated works such as “Funny Games” and “The Piano Teacher.”

The program is mutual cooperation between Zawya Cinema and The Austrian Culture Center.

Regarding the long-waited Zawya Panorama of European Film, Zawya Cinema announced two weeks the final dates of the 13th edition of Panorama of the European Film. The forthcoming edition will take place between 13 and 22 January.

The cinema announced that more details will be revealed soon. The previous editions of the event witnessed a wide interest from the audience who cared for attending several screenings.
