As part of ongoing cultural initiatives aimed at strengthening Egyptian-Russian artistic exchange, the Russian House in Cairo hosted a special musical evening celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of renowned Russian and Soviet composer Alexander Sergeyevich Zatsepin.

Zatsepin is considered one of the most influential figures in Russian music. His compositions became the soundtrack of an entire era, closely associated with iconic Russian films and deeply rooted in the daily lives of generations.

The concert featured a distinguished performance by the Kalinka Ensemble under the direction of Maestro Louisa Bledzhants, alongside students of the Harmonica Studio led by artist Sherif Carlos. The program included a selection of Zatsepin’s most celebrated works from Russian cinema.

Among the performed songs were “Song of the Bears,” “Conversation with Happiness,” “There Is Only One Moment,” “January Blizzard,” and “This World,” warmly received by the audience, including Asia Tortchieva, Cultural Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Cairo.

Maestro Louisa Bledzhants praised the remarkable performance of the children and youth choir of the Russian House, highlighting the timeless vitality of Zatsepin’s music.

Meanwhile, Vadim Zaychikov, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, emphasized the importance of commemorating a major Russian composer whose legacy continues to build cultural bridges between Egypt and Russia.

The evening concluded in a vibrant artistic atmosphere that brought together members of the Russian community and Egyptian audiences, reflecting the depth of cultural ties between the two nations.
