In the capital and biggest city of Serbia, Belgrade, a global event was held ‘The Karic Brothers Awards 2019’ under the Karic Foundation.
In this event, prominent Egyptian archaeologist and Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass was honored by Karic Foundation with an award under the category ‘the scientific and research work’ for his key contributions in archaeology as well as his incredible charisma and cosmopolitanism.

The event was attended by around 500 intellectuals, politicians, and the Egyptian ambassador to Belgrade Amr El-Goueily.
The award was received by other five figures from Greece, Italy, Czech, and France.
Dr. Hawass is considered the first Arab and African to receive this award.
Addressing the ceremony, the Egyptian archaeologist talked about his precious discoveries and his passion for Egyptian antiquities since he discovered the statue of the Greek goddess of love “Aphrodite”.
Moreover, Hawass dedicated this award to the Egyptian people.
On his part, the foundation chairman affirmed that Hawass is the most famous Egyptian worldwide.
It is worth mentioning that, the Karic Brothers Award ceremony honors winners from Serbia and abroad for outstanding achievements at the crowded National Theater in Belgrade. The award is presented annually.
It is granted for the highest achievements in the following categories: culture and arts, scientific research work, publishing and journalism, economy and commerce, humanitarian activity in support of peace, cooperation and amity amongst people.
