Zahi Hawass Mourns Loss of Egyptologist Ali Radwan

The world-renowned archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass on Thursday expressed his heartfelt condolences over the death of well-known Egyptologist Dr. Ali Radwan, head of the General Arab Union for Archaeologists and former dean of Faculty of Archaeology.

Hawass depicted him as a great Egyptologist and one of the most important archaeologists who enriched the whole world with his valuable writings.

"The senses", Hawass said that was one of the most important and several writings of the late archaeologist.

He also prayed to Allah to shower the deceased with His mercy and forgiveness.

Dr. Radwan was a professor of ancient Egyptian history and civilization at the Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University, and a member of the Egyptian Society for Historical Studies.

He got his Ph.D. in July 1968 from the University of Munich, Germany, and worked as head of the Ancient Egyptian Archaeology Department. Later, he was appointed as the dean of the Archaeology Faculty.

Also, Radwan was a member of the Egyptian Scientific Institute, a member of the Education and Scientific Research Committee of the National Democratic Party, and a member of the Culture Committee of the National Democratic Party.

He was the supervisor of the establishment of the Faculty of Archaeology in Fayoum.

Finally, Radwan was a member of the Austrian Archaeological Institute - Vienna, and General Rapporteur of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists. He also participated in many local and international conferences and seminars.
