The historic city of Bologna hosted the seventh stop of Dr. Zahi Hawass’s international cultural tour. The world-renowned archaeologist delivered a significant lecture on Queen Cleopatra, attended by a distinguished audience of over 2000 intellectuals and Egyptology enthusiasts.
During the session, Dr. Hawass presented historical facts regarding Cleopatra’s life and captivated the audience with the latest updates from the Great Pyramid of Khufu exploration project, including findings from recently discovered passages. He also highlighted monumental discoveries in Saqqara and Luxor, most notably the "Lost Golden City.
In a strong promotional message, Dr. Hawass reassured the Italian public that "Egypt is perfectly safe" and extended a warm invitation to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which has now officially opened its doors to the world. He described the museum as the most significant cultural landmark of the 21st century. The event concluded with a signing ceremony for his book, "The Man with the Hat."
Dr. Zahi Hawass closed the event by emphasizing the National Campaign to Repatriate Smuggled Egyptian Antiquities. He demanded the return of three iconic treasures: the Bust of Nefertiti (Berlin), the Rosetta Stone (British Museum), and the Dendera Zodiac (Louvre). Hawass asserted that these artifacts are inseparable from Egyptian identity and belong in the Grand Egyptian Museum, calling for international support for Egypt’s historical and ethical rights..
