Within the framework of its ongoing national and scientific role to protect Egyptian identity and refute systematic attempts to falsify history, the Zahi Hawass Foundation for Antiquities and Heritage organized a major scientific and cultural lecture yesterday, Monday, June 8, 2026. The event, titled "Afrocentrism and the Origins of Ancient Egyptian Civilization,"was held at the Prince Taz Palace Creativity Center in Cairo to provide a robust, scientific response to the flawed premises adopted by this movement.

The lecture was presented and moderated by Dr. Mohamed Khamis, an Egyptology researcher and tour guide, amidst a massive turnout and great engagement from archaeologists, media professionals, and youth interested in identity and heritage who filled the historic palace. This seminar comes at a critical time when Egyptian identity faces systematic campaigns across social media platforms by Afrocentric groups seeking to attribute ancient Egyptian civilization to non-Egyptians. The gathering focused on equipping public opinion with irrefutable archaeological and historical facts based on the latest findings in Egyptology, genetic research, and anthropology, countering these ideas with the highest levels of scientific methodology and civility.

The lecture addressed four primary axes, beginning with a comprehensive introduction to the Afrocentric movement, the reasons behind its emergence, its influential figures, and a tracking of its ideological shift from a civil rights movement into a tool for falsifying cultural heritage. This was followed by a detailed analysis of the movement's rhetoric and its expressive and visual methods across digital platforms used to construct misleading historical narratives. The seminar also reviewed mechanisms for a rigorous and civilized scientific rebuttal based on conclusive texts and antiquities, leading to a clear strategy and roadmap to counter social media campaigns at both individual and institutional levels through initiatives and bodies dedicated to producing interactive digital content that corrects misconceptions globally.

At the conclusion of the event, the Zahi Hawass Foundation for Antiquities and Heritage emphasized that preserving the authenticity of Egyptian civilization is an inherent duty. It stressed that countering thought with thought and conclusive archaeological evidence is the ultimate way to end these fallacies, highlighting the importance of unifying popular and institutional efforts in the battle for national awareness.
