World-renowned archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass launched his largest-ever promotional lecture tour in Italy today, starting in the historic city of Naples. Spanning ten cities through May 3rd, this grand tour aims to showcase Egypt’s latest archaeological triumphs and mobilize international support for the national campaign to repatriate iconic treasures, including the Rosetta Stone, the Bust of Nefertiti, and the Dendera Zodiac.
The tour, which concludes on May 4th with a high-profile gala hosted by the Rotary Clubs and attended by the Egyptian Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Rady, offers a deep dive into Egypt’s recent "Golden Age" of discovery. Each event begins with a ten-minute Italian documentary highlighting Hawass’s legendary career, followed by an in-depth presentation on the "Lost Golden City" in Luxor, the secrets of Saqqara, and the ongoing search for Queen Cleopatra’s tomb.
Beyond the lectures, Dr. Hawass is engaging directly with the Italian public through book signings for the Italian edition of his latest work, The Man in the Hat. This cultural marathon serves as a powerful bridge between the two nations, blending cinematic storytelling with scientific revelation to celebrate the enduring magic of Ancient Egypt on the world stage.
