Yemen's General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology has reversed its earlier decision to close all airports, confirming that air traffic is continuing normally across the country.
In a new statement issued on Monday, the authority said all Yemeni airports remain fully operational and that scheduled flights and air navigation services are continuing without interruption. The notice was addressed to all airlines and international organizations operating flights to and from Yemen.
The reversal came hours after the authority had announced the closure of all airports until further notice following an attack on the runway at Sanaa International Airport intended to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing.
The Yemeni Ministry of Defiance said it had targeted the runway, while the Houthi movement said the strike marked the end of the years-long de-escalation period and warned of retaliation.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the attack, describing it as a violation of the ceasefire and warning that it would not go unanswered.
The Houthi-run Foreign Ministry in Sanaa also accused Saudi Arabia of ending the de-escalation agreement and said it would bear responsibility for the consequences.
