Yehya Khalil to Conclude Winter Jazz Concert Series on March 9

Renowned Egyptian Jazz musician Yehya Khalil will conclude his winter concert series at Cairo Opera House's small hall on March 9 with a power-packed lineup of world-rising jazz players.

The upcoming concert is intended to be a great time for music lovers and European Jazz fans.

The performance will include a selection of his notable songs, including Donia, Crichendo, and Hakawey El-Ahawyas well as some covers of Arabic and Western standards.

Born in Cairo, in 1943, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of the jazz movement in Egypt.

Known as "King of Jazz", Khalil received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Opera and has played with many well-known international musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, Ginger Baker, Jeff Bush, and Eric Clapton, before returning to Egypt.

In 2018, Khalil received the Opera House-bestowed Lifetime Achievement Award for his "outstanding contribution to enriching musical life in Egypt."
