A new Egyptian horror thriller titled, "Mamsous" ("Possessed"), has commenced principal photography, bringing together a high-profile ensemble of rising stars for a supernatural story centered on urban legends.
The film follows a group of young paranormal investigators exploring haunted locations who become trapped in a sequence of terrifying, reality-blurring events.
To ensure strong box-office appeal, the project has assembled a cast that includes Yasmina El Abd, Omar Rozik, Youssef Raafat, Abdelrahman Mohamed, and Tara Abboud, the latter marking her first venture into the horror genre.
"Mamsous" is touted as a high-budget project and is co-produced by G Creations, Film Square, and Big Time, with Mohamed Nassar and Salah El Gehany also on board as producers.
El Gehany also directs the pic from a script by Yasser Al Yasri.
"Mamsous" will reunite El Gehany and Al Yasri for the second time after they previously worked together on the 2019 thriller "122".
Nassar confirmed that the fim is a high-budget production designed to rival international cinematic standards.
He added that the project underwent meticulous preparation and was allocated a substantial budget to ensure a premium visual experience, utilizing advanced filming techniques and cutting-edge visual effects to keep pace with global trends in the genre.
Nassar expressed optimism for its theatrical release, noting that the cast's strong box-office presence significantly boosts the film's commercial prospects.
Abboud also praised the collaborative onset environment and Al-Yassiri’s distinct artistic vision, describing the project as a major milestone in her career.
