WYF2021 Uses Unprecedented Technologies to Combat Covid-19

The fourth edition of the World Youth Forum (WYF2021) announced Friday the use of unprecedented techniques in detection, precaution, and prevention of the Covid-19 virus, especially the new variant called "Omicron".

The WYF will be launched in the presence and patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Republic, in Sharm El-Sheikh, South Sinai, from January 10 to 13, 2022.

The unprecedented technologies include a sophisticated robot that sterilizes halls. Another robot shall measure the temperatures of the participants and distribute sterilization tools to the attendees, as well as provide information about the halls and event venues. A third robot will distribute food and drinks to the attendees.

The WYF has also taken all precautionary and preventive measures during the implementation of events and activities.

In this context, the organizers have prepared a tight plan in cooperation with state agencies and specialized private sector companies to ensure the safety of all participants, starting from the registration stages and the requirement for everyone to receive vaccines against Covid-19, both for participants from inside or outside Egypt.

This year, the forum created a new organizing committee within the original organizing committees to be supported by a medical team and equipped with specialized capabilities to examine and follow up any case suspected of having any symptoms of Covid-19, and the procedures included ensuring the readiness of the rooms designated for isolation in each hotel in the event of discovering infections in the forum.

All those in charge of organizing the forum have been trained on the preventive measures and protocols that will be applied throughout the session, with a periodic examination every 48 hours for all participants and guests, the use of thermal cameras before entering the halls, and the application of all rules of social distancing during sessions and forum activities and other procedures.

The World Youth Forum is an annual global event held in Sharm El-Sheikh in South Sinai, under the auspices of President Sisi.

The WYF was launched in three editions in the past years 2017, 2018, and 2019.

The forum aims to bring together the world's youth in order to promote dialogue and discuss development issues, and to send a message of peace and prosperity from Egypt to the world. The United Nations Commission for Social Development has adopted the three previous editions of the World Youth Forum in Egypt as an international platform for discussing youth issues.
