A Florida woman accused of shooting at Rihanna‘s residence has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
Earlier this month, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old Orlando resident, was charged with attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
She also pleaded not guilty to the other felony counts.
Ortiz’s lawyer, Deputy Public Defender Derek Ray Dillman, entered the plea on her behalf as she stood in a custody area.
The only time she spoke was to waive her right to a speedy preliminary hearing.
Dillman requested that the $1.9 million bail be reduced to $70,000, but the request was denied.
Rihanna’s Beverly Hills home was the target of the shooting in early March.
A law enforcement source said that the singer was inside the home at the time of the incident, which was reported at 1:15 p.m. PT on March 8.
According to the Los Angeles Times, a woman allegedly fired about 20 rounds at the house from her white Tesla across the street from the property’s gate; one round penetrated its wall. Bullet holes were also spotted in the gate to Rihanna’s home and an RV that was parked outside.
Following the incident, police located a white Tesla that had fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive. They arrested a female suspect, eventually identified as Ortiz, at a Sherman Oaks shopping center 30 minutes after the 911 call was placed.
An assault rifle and seven casings were found inside Ortiz’s vehicle, and she was booked for attempted murder. If convicted on all charges, Ortiz could get life in prison.
