"Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" Gets October Premiere Date

The premiere date for Disney Channel's long-awaited sequel series “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” the follow-up series to the “Wizards of Waverly Place,”  has been released.

The network will premiere the series’ first two episodes on October 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The series’ first eight episodes will then be made available to stream on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the next day.

Following the premiere, two new episodes — including a Halloween-themed episode — will premiere back-to-back on October 30. Beginning on November 8, episode premieres will move to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. ET, with two weekly episodes.

Raven-Symoné (“Raven’s Home”) and Danielle Fishel (“Girl Meets World”) are also set to direct episodes of the spinoff.

Wizards of Waverly Place

“Wizards of Waverly Place” follows an adult Justin Russo (David Henrie), who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko). When Justin’s sister Alex (Selena Gomez) brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.

Taylor Cora also rounds out the cast as series regular Winter, who is Billie’s best friend.

Gomez will guest star as Alex in the first episode. David DeLuise, who starred in the original series as the Russo’s father Jerry, will also will return to the franchise as a guest star. 

Wizards of Waverly Place

Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers, along with executive producers Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez, and Henrie. Andy Fickman directed and executive-produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.

Gomez recently opened up about returning to the set of the Wizarding series, describing the experience as coming home again. “It felt like I was home again. I’m so happy I got to bring back this childhood gift that I was given to new little ones out there.”
