Disney Channel has unveiled the first first look at “Wizards of Waverly Place” sequel series, “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place".
The footage featured behind-the-scenes moments with the series lead cast, including David Henrie and Janice LeAnn Brown, along with executive producer and guest star Selena Gomez.
“This is where it all started,” Gomez says in the production first look. “We’re home!”.
The clip from the upcoming sitcom series also sees Alex and Billie step through a magical portal to get into Justin’s house. Billie uses her powers to make eggs scramble themselves on the stove, make a burrito appear and more.
The “Wizards of Waverly Place” spinoff follows an adult Justin Russo (Henrie), who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko). When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.
Additionally, David DeLuise, who starred in the original series as the Russo’s father Jerry, makes an appearance in the first look video. He will return to the franchise as a guest star. Taylor Cora also rounds out the cast as series regular Winter, who is Billie’s best friend.
Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers of “Wizards: Beyond Waverly Place.”
Along with Gomez, executive producers also include Henrie and Gary Marsh.
Andy Fickman directed and executive produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.
The series will premiere later this year.
