American Actor Will Smith apologized to Chris Rock for slapping him at the Oscars Sunday night over a joke in which the comedian mocked the shaved head of Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett.
On Monday, Will Smith said on Instagram; "I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be."

Smith's apology came shortly after the "American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences", the body that administrates the Oscars, announced that it had opened an official investigation into the incident, which took place live on air and astounded the audience who were present in the hall and viewers who watched the evening from their homes.
The American actor stressed in his apology that "violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable."
"Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally," he added.
Rock joked about Jada's shaven head as it looks like Demi Moore's Shaven head in G.I. Jane. It was noted what Rock said was very upsetting to Jada Smith, who had previously spoken publicly about her hair loss due to alopecia areata.
Although Will Smith initially laughed at the joke, he soon went on stage and slapped Rock hard in the face.
Rock was shocked when Smith slapped his face and justified his joke by saying; "It was a G.I. Jane Joke."
