Former couple Sherine Abdel-Wahab and Hossam Habib continue to this day to attract media and fans' attention despite going their separate ways.
Audio messages from Habib's phone to a private conversation have been leaked on social media. In the messages, he delved into the health condition and financial woes of his ex-wife.
“Her family took all her money, apartments, and property, and her brother broke her rib when he beat her and dragged her on the floor,” he says in the audio.
“I did not go to the press about the audios, which were leaked from my phone. I will file a report against the person who did this. This is a crime punishable by law,” Habib said in a statement.
He added, "I will file a report against anyone who publishes these audios, and against any website or press person who uses them.”
Habib also warned that he would file a report against anyone who spread remarks that he didn't say.
“All there is that Sherine’s brother transferred all of her social media accounts with an old and canceled power of attorney, without her knowledge, and this was filed in a report by Counselor Yasser Kantoush to the prosecution and the Public Prosecutor. Anyone can verify this, and I am not saying false tales or things that did not occur,” he explained.
The singer added: “I think people, instead of attacking, should understand who is the reason that prevented Sherine today from communicating with her fans, releasing new music, and causing her many problems, including with her production company. I believe people understood why Sherine is frozen and why Sherine does not know how to release anything".
He pointed out that if something good came from the leaked audios, was the fans' knowledge of why Sherine could not release new songs nor how to communicate with them.
Habib affirmed that from today he will not tolerate any abuse, whether from Sherine’s fans or others.
“Until today, frankly, I tolerated abuse and false accusations but from today, I tell her, ‘Whether from Sherine’s fans or other than Sherine’s fans, I will file a report against them! and I will not refrain from doing so because I gave them a very big opportunity to retract these words," he pointed out.
"Sherine herself said that I had never wronged her. They only look at the bad side and leave the good side. From today I tell her that anyone who does me wrong, whether from the public or the press, will file a report against them," he added.
For his part, Mohammad Abdel Wahab, Sherine's brother, warned on Facebook that he would take legal measures after the leaked audio recordings, describing what has been published as lies that harm the reputation and integrity of those involved in the recording.
"The owner of the audio recording, whoever he is, deliberately addresses the internal affairs of the family for malicious motives, " he explained. "Without going into further details, all the accusations and defamation attempts in the audio about her personal and professional life have been previously dealt with in the courts and proven to be falsification, he explained.
"We call on social media users interested in this matter not to circulate the audio recording or republish it to preserve the reputation of those involved in the recording and to avoid legal action," he concluded.
