"Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya" (Sons of Rizk 3: The Knockout) continued to dominate the box office on Wednesday, breaking the box office in several Arab countries by grossing EGP18,163,554.
Turki Al-Sheikh, head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority announced on Facebook the film’s total revenues in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, Iraq, and the Levant, surpassed EGP 279 million in its first week in theaters, becoming the first Egyptian film to achieve the milestone.
The third entry grossed EGP 92 million in Egypt, EGP85 million in Saudi Arabia, Gulf countries EGP 87 million, and Iraq and the Levant EGP 15 million.
"Welad Rizk" first premiered in 2015 and hails from screenwriter Salah El Gehiny and director Tarek Al Eryan. The third entry hit theatres on June 12.
The film features an all-star ensemble cast that includes Ahmed Ezz, Amr Youssef, Karim Qassem, and Mohamed Mamdouh.
It also sees familiar faces such as Sayed Ragab, Eyad Nasser, Bassem Samra, and Mohamed Lotfy as well as newcomers Maged El Kedwany, and Asmaa Galal.
Moreover, Asser Yassin is set to reappear as Al Shayeb in the third outing and will have more screen time for the character in preparation for the "Welad Rizk" spin-off film "Al Shayeb" (The King).
The installment also features cameo appearances from Karim Abdel Aziz, Phaedra, and Ahmed Fahmy.
However, Ahmed Dawood nor Ahmed El Fishawy will not be returning for the third entry.
The pic received huge support from the General Entertainment Authority, with a production budget exceeding 8 million dollars. It was filmed between Cairo and Riyadh.
The pic is co-produced by RAW Entertainment, Synergy Films, Film Square, and G Creations.
Prior to the release of "Welad Rizk 3", the franchise has been extended to 4, 5, and 6 installments.
