Egyptian rapper Wegz is taking a stand amid the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel.

On Monday,  the musician announced on social media that he will be helping the Palestinian people by donating a portion of profits from the North American tour.

"As our heart breaks for our people in Gaza and the ongoing genocide, we believe it is crucial to use our platform and voice to stand in solidarity with Palestine during these tragic times,” Wegz wrote.

"We have decided to use this tour and our voice to raise awareness around the ongoing suffering of our Palestinian brothers and sisters which they have endured for years. In an effort to provide support to our Palestinian people and all civilians in Gaza and the West Bank, a portion of the profits from our upcoming tour will be donated to relief efforts,".

"We want to offer as much assistance as we possibly can. They deserve more, and together our voice is louder," Wegz concluded.

On October 7, Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a multi-pronged surprise attack that included a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea, and air.

It said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and growing violence by Israeli settlers. The Israeli military then launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

At least 5,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza, while the figure stands at more than 1,400 people in Israel.

Amid worldwide condemnation, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an “immediate humanitarian cease-fire” to ease the “epic human suffering.”
