As part of his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Mr. Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, along with his accompanying delegation, visited the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Pyramids area.
At the Grand Egyptian Museum, they were welcomed by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Chief Executive Officer of the Museum, who accompanied them on a tour that included the Main Hall, the Grand Staircase, and the main galleries. The delegation received a detailed briefing on the museum’s history and its exceptional collections, most notably the treasures of the Golden King Tutankhamun, which will be displayed in their entirety at the museum’s official opening on November 1.
President Luong Cuong expressed his admiration for the museum’s architectural design and its remarkable archaeological treasures. On this occasion, he presented the museum with a replica of the Vietnamese “Ngoc Lu” bronze drum, an important cultural symbol of Vietnam. Dr. Ghoneim expressed his deep appreciation for this valuable gift.
The visit also included a tour of the Giza Pyramids area, beginning with the Great Pyramid of King Khufu — the only surviving wonder of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World — where they were received by Mr. Ashraf Mohie El-Din, Director General of Giza Antiquities. He provided an in-depth explanation of the history of the pyramids, as well as the construction, carving, and transportation techniques used by the ancient Egyptians.
The tour continued with a visit to the Great Sphinx, where the delegation learned about its history and the Dream Stela, before taking commemorative photographs. The visit concluded at the Panorama area, offering sweeping views of the pyramids of Kings Khafre and Menkaure, along with the queens’ pyramids.
