Vienna Shooting: Macron Expresses Solidarity with Austria

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed on Tuesday full solidarity with Austria after the attack that hit Vienna on Monday evening, according to Sputnik news agency.

"We... the french people share the shock and sorrow of the Austrian people following the shootings in Vienna," Macron tweeted.

"After France, a friendly country is attacked. This is our European continent, our enemies must realize who they are facing, and we will never surrender,'' the french president continued.

It is worth mentioning that, on Monday evening, multiple gunmen with automatic weapons opened fire at 6 locations across central Vienna. The attack left a number of Austrian citizens dead and injured.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz described the incident as a “repulsive terror attack”.

Austrian police units have arrested 4 participants in the terrorist-classified attack.

Austrian authorities announced that the attack took place in 6 different locations near the largest synagogue in the city.

Army forces are deployed in Vienna to help police.
