Yesterday, New York witnessed the 98th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade which featured traditional fun balloons, floats, special celebrity appearances, and the first national appearance of Santa Claus.
The parade marked the official beginning of the Christmas season.

Jennifer Hudson Makes her Macy's Thanksgiving Parade Review
Talk show host Jennifer Hudson made her Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut at Herald Square during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
She performed "Jingle Bells" and "Let There Be Joy" from her recent holiday album, The Gift of Love.
Dan + Shay Perform Country Music for Thanksgiving
Country music stars Dan + Shay performed at the Heartwarming Holiday Countdown float during the event.
They performed “Officially Christmas” from their recent holiday project, It’s Officially Christmas: The Double Album. In addition, actors Jonathan Bennett and Ginna Claire Mason danced at the float.
It was the first time for the duo to perform at the event in more than 10 years.
Jimmy Fallon and the Roots Perform at Sixth Avenue
Fallon celebrated his new Christmas album, Holiday Seasoning, with a performance of original track “Hey Rudy” at the event.
The host and his The Tonight Show band made their appearance at an engine-replica float.
'Riverdance' Performer Recovers from Quick Fall
The cast of Riverdance, a long-running theatrical show featuring traditional Irish music and dance, performed at the event.
Bishop Briggs Paints the 'Wednesday' Float Black
Wednesday Addams painting was added to the Macy’s parade. The famous mythical character and her brother, Pugsley, were joined by Thing.
Australian Music Icon Kylie Shines at Event
Australian icon Kylie Minogue shone over Herald Square, performing during the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. She performed her 2023 hit "Padam Padam," "Slow" and "Can't Get You Out of My Head."
Santa Claus Comes to Town
The Thanksgiving festivities at the 98th annual Macy’s Parade were ended with the arrival of Santa Claus on a giant sleigh.
Ariana Madix Performs at the Event
During the event, Ariana Madix made a surprising appearance at the parade, performing "Lovefool."
Rainy Weather
Several performances of the event were held in the rain. Rainy weather didn't stop crowds from showing up at the event.
Charli Dances in Herald Square
TikTok star Charli D'Amelio made her Macy's Thanksgiving debut on the annual parade's oldest float: Tom Turkey.
Pro-Palestinian Protesters Show Up
Before the beginning of the parade, groups of protesters were detained for blocking the street during the Macy's parade, the New York City Police Department said.
Earlier, Mayor Eric Adams had warned against protesters blocking the way.
"I really want to take the moment to tell those grinches that believe they’re going to disrupt the parade. It’s not going to happen. Just as we responded last year, we’re going to be on top of those who attempt to interrupt the parade in any way possible," Adams said before the parade.
