Video: Assala Survives Near-Fatal Jet Ski Accident

Syrian beloved megastar Assala Nasri and TV anchor Basma Wahba survived a near-fatal accident after the jet ski they rode collided with rocks during their vacation in Alexandria.

Wahba shared the news on Instagram along with a video of the accident, which featured Nasri, who loved driving jet ski since she was a young girl, as the driver.

“Assala and I have experienced a huge accident, we narrowly escaped death, thanks to God," she captioned.

The footage also showed the Syrian megastar driving quickly, which lead to the collision.

Wahba revealed that after their collision, she was thrown at the rocks, and fell to the bottom after hitting her head and losing consciousness.

“Despite Assala being roughed up by the waves and the accident, she persistently called for someone to save us,” the TV anchor pointed out.

Wahba added: “I woke up to find myself in a boat that belongs to good people, who were trying to save me from the water that entered my body after I lost consciousness, as well as check my heart rate and fix the blood that was coming from the wounds in my leg,”

The TV anchor also extended her thanks to those who saved her, advising not to speedily drive the jet ski as well as for the parents to pay attention to themselves and their children.

Moreover, the Syrian megastar took to the platform to reassure fans on their wellbeing; Assala stated that she was in good condition after the accident.

She noting that the two are doing well, but Wahba suffered from the accident more than she did.

Assala added that she went to dine with her friends after the accident, stating that she will return to Cairo on Monday.

The Syrian megastar pointed out that she warned Wahba from riding with her in the jet ski because she wanted to drive freely in the sea, but the TV anchor insisted on accompanying her.

It is worth mentioning that Assala Mostafa Hatem Nasri, most commonly known as Assala, is a Syrian singer and TV host.

She was born in Damascus to a middle-class couple, her father Moustafa Nasry, was a well-known Syrian composer and singer.

The megastar began her musical career by performing patriotic, religious, and children’s songs when she was four years old.

She sang the theme song “Qessas al-Sho’oub (Stories of People”) of the cartoon show “Hekaayat ‘aalamiyah” (Global tales).

In 1986, her father passed away in a fatal car accident after suffering from internal bleeding. Aged 17, she helped her mother in taking care of her siblings, Reem, Amaany, Ayman, and Ayham.

Assala made her musical debut in 1993 with “Law te’rafou” (If you know). The album had 4 songs in the oriental operatic TARAB style composed by great Egyptian composers. The album was an instant hit with heartbreaking songs like “Ya sabra yana” (How patient I am) and” Samehtak ketir (I forgave a lot).

She quickly cemented her presence in a growing industry brimming with new, young talents like Najwa Karam, Saber Rebai, Angham, and Abdelmajeed Abdullah.

Assala booked herself a place along with the Arab singing legends among great albums through two decades.

Among her most famous albums are “Eghdab” (Get angry), “Wala tessadda” (Do not believe), “Alby beyertahlak (My heart feels at home with you), “Ya mag-noun” (Oh madman), “Moshtaa’a” (I am missing you), ” Yameen Allah” (I swear), “Add al-horouf” (As much as letters), “Hayaaty” (My life), “Noss haala” (A half situation) and “Kanoun kaifek” (The law of your fancy).

Assala's latest artistic work is music video, “Love & Peace”, which features used sign language. She is also reportedly working on a new song with poet Mohamed Abou Nema, the creator of her hit-song “Bent Akaber“.
