The renowned Egyptian star Mervat Amin is celebrating her 77th birthday today.
She was born in 1946 in El Minya to Mohammed Mostafa Amin, a doctor from Upper Egypt, and a Scottish mother, the headmaster of Victoria College elementary school.
She was raised in Heliopolis and has a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Ain Shams University.
Amin shot to fame with her success in Confused Souls (1968) and many remarkable films and stunning performances followed suit. Her performance in ‘My Father Above The Tree’ won her much praise from her fans and critics alike.
She is also known for Al-Ragol Al-Akhar (1999), El-Ketaar (1986) and The School of Mischief (1973).
Throughout her career, the beautiful actress received many awards for her contribution to Egyptian cinema and was nominated by former First Lady Jihan El-Sadat to play her role in the biographical film Ayam El-Sadat (2001).
