Uzbekistan Central Electoral Commission was keen to invite a delegation from the Egyptian-Uzbek Friendship Association to participate in the electoral process, which ended with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev winning a second term.
Headed by Dr. Magdy Za'abal, the delegation included MP Abdel Hadi Al-Qasabi, Senator Emad El-Din Hussein, Al-Shorouk Newspaper Editor-in-chief, Mahmoud Muslim, Al-Watan Newspaper Editor-in-Chief, Ahmed Al-Maslamani, Former advisor to Egypt's President, and Hamdi Abu Al-Enein, chief of The Uzbek Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Cairo, Journalist Fatima Badawy and Journalist Shohrat Aref.
In press remarks, Dr. Za'abal pointed out that the elections took place amid taking all the necessary precautionary measures.
Moreover, he hailed the large turnout witnessed across various constituencies, which reflects the Uzbeks' will to move forward towards the path of comprehensive development.
In addition, Za'abal visited the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, where he gave a lecture to the students, about the education system in Egypt.
He also held a meeting with the president of the Oriental University and his two deputies. They discussed the possibility of supporting the university with Egyptian experts to teach the Arabic language.
On the other hand, "Za'abal" held a meeting with Shoazim Minovarov, Advisor to Uzbekistan President. They tackled ways to develop ties between the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo.
The talks also touched on the necessity of sending university professors from Egypt to teach the Arabic language in Uzbek universities.
On his part, Abou El-Enein held talks with a number of spinning and weaving companies’ representatives to discuss and sign more commercial agreements with Egyptian ones.
In the presence of Amira Fahmy, Egypt’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, the delegation held a meeting with members of the Committee on Interethnic and Friendship Relations with Foreign Countries.
During the meeting, they addressed the development of joint cooperation between the two committees, agreeing to adopt a new plan to work on in the future based on the agreements that were signed between both states during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Uzbekistan in 2018.
