US Rapper Travis Scott was arrested in Miami Beach early Thursday for disorderly intoxication and trespassing.
According to the Miami Beach Police public information, the arrest was made at 4:35 AM and Scott was detained under his real name, Jacques Bermon Webster.
The 33-year-old "Astroworld" star was released on bond after paying $500 and $150 on the charges.
Scott was on a charter boat at Miami Beach Marina and was involved in a disturbance or a dispute with the boat’s crew, police told CNN. Officers were called to the marina and he was asked to leave, but the rapper left and returned and again got into a dispute with the crew and was asked to leave again. After he refused, he was arrested.
“He was drunk, causing a disturbance, and asked to leave multiple times,” a source is quoted as telling WSVN News in Miami. ”Police told the outlet Scott “became irate screaming profanities, left and returned to disturb some more.”
The officers could sense a strong smell of alcohol coming from the defendant’s breath, a report viewed by the New York Times states. Scott was quoted admitting to have been drinking alcohol and allegedly said, “‘It’s Miami.’”
A statement from Scott’s attorney, Bradford Cohen reads: “Mr. Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding . There was absolutely no physical altercation involved, and we thank the authorities for working with us towards a swift and amicable resolution.”
For his part, Scott was unconcerned with the matter and began selling T-shirts with his mug shot on his official website.
Scott is currently on a break before his “Circus Maximus” tour, which launched last year in North America, continues in Europe. The first date is June 28 in the Netherlands.
The trek continues through August 4 in Portugal before a September date in Brazil. The tour is in support of “Utopia,” his first album in five years, which was released last summer.
Scott’s career has been marred by tragedy in November of 2021 after 10 people were killed and hundreds injured when the crowd surged at his Astroworld festival in Houston. He was not charged in the incident; investigations are ongoing, however, all wrongful death lawsuits related to it have been settled.
