The US Embassy in Jordan has issued an urgent security alert warning American citizens of missiles and drones in Jordanian airspace, urging them to seek immediate shelter in a safe location.
The embassy said it would continue to assess the situation and provide additional updates as needed, citing concerns over the evolving security situation in the country.
US citizens in Jordan were advised to take immediate precautionary measures, including seeking overhead cover, sheltering in a secure location, remaining indoors and monitoring local media, including Roya TV, the Jordan News Agency and The Jordan Times, for the latest developments.
The embassy also urged Americans to contact their airlines for updates on any flight schedule changes, remain vigilant, report suspicious activity and contact Jordanian police in the event of an emergency.
In addition, the embassy encouraged US citizens to enrol in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security alerts and emergency updates, and to follow the US Department of State's official communication channels for further information.
