U.S. Embassy Cairo celebrated the completion of its two-year English Access Scholarship Program with a graduation ceremony for 304 Egyptian students from Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Kafr El Sheikh, Suez, Aswan, Qena, Naga Hammadi, and Fayoum.

Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Ruben Harutunian attended the graduation ceremony and highlighted the impact of language learning, saying, “English is the key to a brighter future. English unlocks doors for Egyptian students.

It sets you apart from your peers and gives you an opportunity to maximize your potential.” Harutunian also underscored how English enables Egyptian entrepreneurs and workers to seek out opportunities with American partners, increasing prosperity in both countries.

In partnership with Amideast, the American University in Cairo (AUC), the Egyptian Association for Educational Resources (E-Era), Nile University, and the Om Habibeh Foundation, the U.S. Embassy proudly supports programs aimed at providing Egyptian students with the English language, leadership, and critical thinking skills needed to thrive.

In addition to programs focused on Egyptian students, U.S. Embassy Cairo has trained more than 750 English language teachers from every governorate across Egypt.

By expanding access to high-quality professional development opportunities, the Embassy is helping strengthen English language instruction nationwide and supporting long-term improvements in teaching and learning.

U.S. Embassy Cairo also just launched its new English for Career Readiness and AI Literacy (ECRAiL) program, which equips emerging tech and policy leaders in Egypt with advanced workplace English, soft skills, and applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy to strengthen career readiness and leadership potential.

Earlier this month, 240 Egyptian participants in Cairo, Alexandria, and Aswan began the intensive three-month program combining English for Career Readiness, AI literacy, and career engagement activities.

This year, U.S. Embassy Cairo will also open its Understanding Research and Academic Writing (URAW) program to empower 83 Egyptian academics and researchers with the necessary tools to publish their work in internationally peer-reviewed, English language journals.

URAW seeks to facilitate greater academic and scientific collaboration between Egyptian and American scholars, researchers, and academics across numerous fields.
