The United States military announced on Monday that it had completed a tenth wave of strikes against Iran, amid rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The development came as Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that two tankers were hit by explosions while attempting to pass through what it described as an "unsafe route" south of the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC also said it would continue enforcing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as long as what it called "hostile actions by the United States" persist.
Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department issued a worldwide security alert for American citizens following the worsening regional situation.
The department urged U.S. citizens in the Middle East to exercise increased caution and be prepared for possible flight cancellations.
The claims regarding the tanker explosions and the status of the Strait of Hormuz could not be independently verified. Further details on the reported U.S. strikes were not immediately available.
